Coins Not Accepted

Troubleshooting

This article covers coin jams in your Conlux MCM5 coin mech, and what to do when your coin mechanism will not display the credit after inserting a coin.

Symptoms/Considerations

Flashing red or yellow diagnostic LED's on the upper right corner of the coin mechanism.

Either scenario means your I-vend is not working properly.

1. Two products vended when you only made one purchase. The machine says "make another selection."

2. No product was vended. Your money was taken as if it was a successful vend. The machine does not say "make another selection."

Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the components of the coin mechanism in the diagram below.

Look at your coin mech and you'll see two columns of vertical buttons which are labeled as User Interface Buttons. (Enlarged view below)

Above the A button is a red LED. If it's a solid red LED, this indicates everything is working properly. Coins will be accepted. Should the red LED be flashing, this indicates a coin jam.

To clear the coin jam simply press down on the white Acceptor Gate Lever located to the right of the Coin Funnel.

If the jam is not cleared by this action, locate the Coin Channel Cover (View diagram above). Press the tab on the left side of the Coin Channel Cover for access. Once open, verify if coins are jammed behind the bright green mechanism. Firmly tap the bright green mechanism allowing the coins to pass though the mechanism, clearing the jam. Once the jam is cleared, the red LED indicator will become solid.

Returning back to the User Interface Buttons, note the B button has a yellow LED above it. If it's a solid yellow LED, this means that the coin cassette is working properly. Coins will be accepted.

Should the yellow LED be flashing, this indicates an issue with the coin cassette or the mechanism directly below the coin cassette.

PLEASE NOTE: Troubleshooting the coin cassette consists or three separate tasks. One task could solely eliminate the problem making the next tasks unnecessary.

Task #1

(Do not skip any steps in this task)

1.  Locate the cassette latch.

2. Press and hold the latch down.

3. Pull the latch outward.

4. Lift the coin cassette out of the coin mechanism.

5. Turn the vending machine power switch off.

6. Turn the power switch back on.

7. Replace the coin cassette after you hear the bill validator cycle.

8. Verify the yellow LED above the User Interface Buttons has become solid.

9. Verify coins are being accepted.

If coins are accepted the additional tasks are not necessary.

Task #2

1.  Locate the cassette latch.

2. Press and hold the latch down.

3. Pull the latch outward.

4. Lift the coin cassette out of the coin mechanism and place it face-down on a table.

5. Follow the clear coin tubes to the bottom. There you will find the white plastic Payout Slide. The white plastic Payout Slide must be completely inserted for the coin cassette to operate properly.

(Pictures of the Payout Slide below)

6. To verify that the Payout Slide is inserted properly, press it downward firmly into the coin tubes so that it is flush with the coin tubes.
